How to Prepare

  1. Rinse and soak the rice and dals together in water for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the water and grind the soaked mixture with red chilies, asafoetida, and salt into a coarse batter, adding water as needed.
  3. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and add chopped onions, curry leaves, coriander leaves, and grated ginger. Mix well.
  4. Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
  6. Drizzle a teaspoon of oil around the edges and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.
  7. Flip the dosa and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
  8. Remove from the tawa and serve hot with chutney or sambar.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining batter.
