How to Prepare

  1. In a blender, process the soaked and pitted dates into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat 4 tablespoons of ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the dates paste to the pan and stir continuously for 10 minutes to avoid sticking.
  4. Gradually add 2 cups of milk while stirring to combine it with the dates mixture.
  5. Cook the mixture on low heat for another 15 minutes until it thickens.
  6. Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder, and mix well.
  7. Stir in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (cashews and almonds) and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Once the halwa reaches a thick, glossy consistency, turn off the heat.
  9. Serve warm, garnished with a few chopped nuts on top.
