How to Prepare

  1. Soak poppy seeds (khus khus) in warm water for 4-5 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked poppy seeds with grated coconut and a little water to form a smooth paste.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee and roast cashew nuts and raisins until golden brown, then set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the poppy seed-coconut paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
  5. Add jaggery syrup (prepared by dissolving jaggery in water and straining) to the pan and mix well.
  6. Pour in the milk and stir continuously to avoid lumps, cooking on medium heat for 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  7. Add cardamom powder and the roasted cashews and raisins, mix well, and turn off the heat.
  8. Serve warm or chilled as per preference.
