How to Prepare

  1. Prepare the dosa batter by grinding the soaked rice and urad dal with water to a smooth consistency. Ferment the batter for 8-10 hours or overnight.
  2. Finely chop 10 large onions and mix with 5 tsp of red chili powder
  3. 5 tsp of salt, and 10 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves to make the onion topping.
  4. Heat the dosa tawa on medium flame and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
  6. Sprinkle a handful of the onion mixture evenly over the dosa.
  7. Drizzle 1 tsp of oil around the edges of the dosa and cook until the bottom turns golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).
  8. Flip the dosa if desired or fold it in half and remove from the tawa.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining batter, making approximately 40 dosas.
  10. Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
