How to Prepare

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 10 cups of all-purpose flour
  2. 2 tablespoons of sugar
  3. 2 teaspoons of salt, and 2 tablespoons of baking powder.
  4. Add 2 cups of yogurt and 1.5 cups of warm water gradually to the dry ingredients. Mix to form a soft dough.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for 1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
  7. After resting, divide the dough into 20 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  8. Roll out each ball into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the rolled naan on the hot tawa.
  10. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side for another 1 minute until golden brown spots appear.
  11. Brush the cooked naan with melted butter or ghee and serve hot.
